The tomplayer Project announces the release of v0.240b5 and a new beta module: Carminat TT. This new version is focused on adding high quality audio mixing capabilities to tomplayer. v0.240b5 fixes some minor bugs and also adds the modularity of mono/stereo balance as well as mono/stereo panning to the console filters (the console filter interfaces now take as input a stereo signal). It also includes other features such as variable rate audio input and output, improved wavpack4 decoder, and other improvements in various parts of the system to improve audio quality especially with 8-bit samples even more than before!
v0. 240b5 changes: - AUDIO MIXING MODULE: added monostereo, stereo and roberts modes (monostereo is stereo output with the central channel removed; roberts is monostereo output with the central and side channels swapped; stereo is plain stereo); added balance and panning knobs: bal:left:right and pan:left:right controls to go with the previously existing volume:left:right controls for each of the 3 channels; automatic switching between mono and stereo modes with no markers received - note that in some configurations the order of the channels will change (mono -> left -> right -> left -> right -> mono etc.). Also added a warning message if the user tries to set rates outside the range supported by the audio device - requires at least 0.240b5; - FIXED: rawfloat output was not encoding properly; - NEW: added volume, balance and panning controls to the stereo and roberts channel mixer modules (for one channel only); - ENHANCEMENT: added a new module (audio. loudness) that can be used to boost the bass and treble of the output; - ENHANCEMENT: added support for 8-bit samples; - ENHANCEMENT: increased quality of the console filters (final mix and channels mixer); - NEW: added support for multiple audio inputs (this requires to define them in an extra file instead of the command line arguments); - NEW: added stereo input support to all audio modules; - NEW: added variable rate audio input capability; - NEW: now possible to specify a different audio device from the default one on the command line - by default tomplayer uses /dev/dsp if available, but as not all systems have it you now have to. If you specify a file to load as audio device (instead of using the command line argument), the audio device will be set to that file (at least if it does not already exist, and if that file has not been defined as input audio device); - NEW: support for ffdshow codecs; - NEW: added support for setting the audio device from a configuration file - this allows better control over which devices are used and saves a lot of typing. See this documentation for a list of all available options, and this article for more information on how to use it. - NOTE: This feature is experimental.
